In this blog post I will provide a detailed explanation of today's session.

Risk assessments is a process of accessing a venue or space to identify potential risks and then deciding if any action needs to be taken to reduce those risks.

  1. I need to identify what could cause injury through the hazards for the performance

  2. Decide and describe how likely it is that someone could be harmed and how seriously the risk is.

  3. Take action to eliminate the hazard, or if this isn't possible, control the risk.

Step-by-Step Guide

Risks of the Stage Area

  1. Explain what a risk assessment is and why it is necessary.

  2. Provide examples of potential risks in the stage area and how a risk assessment helps in identifying and mitigating these risks.

A risk assessment is the process of identifying hazards that exist. How they cause harms and the steps needed to prevent these hazards. There's many things that need to be considered when creating a risk assessment for a performance.

Some examples of hazards are as follows:

Fire hazards - A full risk assessment should be carried out for any fire hazards, and fire extinguishers should be easily accessible.

Slip and fall - Performers should be aware of the risk of falling off or slipping.

Feedback from Meeting 2 -Stage plan

Positive- Simple to follow needs to include outlet and keys

Negative- Would prefer drums to the side for space but others disagree and think this should be central. To personify sound should be more should be central.

Things to consider overall lighting and cable.

Conclusion

We discussed the key things to consider when completing our risk assessment in our meeting.

I found it useful to discuss the placement of the equipment on stage as I feel its important the walking areas are safe.

A few of us have missed markings for the exits and cables and this will need to be added to the stage plan.

Comparing all of our stage plans we all have included some good key points and combined will create a strong stage plan. This will also support the risk assessment highlighting the key areas of risks needed to be assessed before the performance.

The key areas I feel are important are s follows:

  1. Identify the hazards.

  2. Decide who might be harmed and how?

  3. Evaluate the risks and decide on precautions.

  4. Record your findings and implement them.

  5. Review your assessment and update if necessary.

  6. Reflection

I have created a risk assessment for the show see following.
