Hello

My name is Leah Hempsall and I am Level 3 music student in my first year.

The style of music I listen to is mainly pop but like other styles such as rock.

I play piano and now learning to play the drums I have been playing piano for around 2 years.

I have been doing piano lessons to progress my playing and often rehearse in college.

I know how to play Adele “someone like you & Debussy “Claire de lune” and have performed one of these songs to an audience. I want to learn drums to have more instrumental knowledge and be able to participate in playing with bands more.

Music Performance

Experience

I did an end of year performance that I feel was one of my biggest accomplishments as initially was very nervous. I rehearsed with vocals and this helped and feel this is key before performing to warm up. Throughout my college years, I have developed my confidence and had the opportunity to showcase my passion for music by playing the piano. I been taking piano lessons for some time and continued to develop this skill throughout my learning at college. Looking back on my college performance playing piano, I can say that it has been a challenging yet rewarding experience. At the beginning of my college career, I struggled with sight-reading and muscle memory. However, with consistent practice and guidance from my tutors, I was able to improve significantly and gradually became more confident. For my performance I played on a Nord this was different to what I was use to and had practised prior to my performance. This sounded much better and really enjoyed playing with this with a few practised developed my confidence in playing.
